Weekly Weigh In, Polka Edition ~Rachel

My schedule is completely messed up and I’m completely out of whack in terms of WW meetings, tracking, etc. I didn’t attend a meeting this week but peeking at my home scale on Thursday morning tells me that I’m up a smidge.

Dave and I went to the farmers market this morning, like we normally do on Saturday mornings. Darwin has been in puppy prison for a little while because he recetnly destroyed two dog beds (in 2 years of owning him, he’s in double digits of destroyed dog beds) but Dave decided to give him some freedom. We put all of the dog beds in our room and shut the door. We always leave music on for the dogs…our digital cable has a number of music channels. Usually they get “Classic Alternative” (think New Wave) but since it is Oktoberfest the Sounds of the Seasons channel was playing polka. Who doesn’t love polka??

Apparently our dogs:

Normally, we place 100% of the blame on Darwin (white chest) but we know Kharma was involved. When they are at the dog park, Kharma gnaws on sticks and mulch while Darwin snaps them. We can tell from the pattern of, ahem, abuse that the wicker toy basket endured that it was gnawed on. So we are pretty sure Kharma was the main culprit and Darwin was the accomplice. ย Notice how guilty she looks in the back of the last picture?

So they either hate polka music or they are pissed that they didn’t go to the dog park this morning. Given that Kharma is a Belgian/German shepherd mix and Darwin is a Husky/German shepherd mix, I would hope the polka music is not the problem. I think they decided that since they couldn’t go to the dog park (full of mulch), they would bring the dog park to us.

Happy Oktoberfest everyone!

    Wow, they REALLY hate polka!

Oh my gosh, that last picture is too funny. I love how Darwin’s paws splay outward when he sits…and the way he’s not really looking at you says so much. Why play with toys when there is a perfectly good basket to be chewed?

cuite pups! i might chew a basket too if you left me in a room w/ polka. ha! wow – those were some bored dogs. my dog trainer always tells me to “be smarter than the dog” … yours destroys dog beds, mine destroy’d comforters. countless (i stopped counting after 20), comforters. i finally got the hint and now wake up 30 minutes before i have to … so i can take both dogs (one of mine is a belgian mal as well. she is wiley!) for a good walk. they eat breakfast out of a puzzle ball so they have to work and really think for thier food and are no longer bored. its changed our lives! both of my dogs love their crate but i wanted to actually be able to trust them. ๐Ÿ™‚ have you guys tried kuranda beds? they rawk for chewers! do they have kongs you can fill w/ peanut butter and treats? and, believe it or not … the music DOES influence them. try amozon for “while youre gone: music pets love”. happy wknd! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh no! I will blame it on the polka music! Our dog detests dog beds, we tried a few times when he was a puppy and he was so aggressive to it, we just finally gave up.

Hope you get your groove on this week Rachel! ๐Ÿ˜€
